scenic architecture with legacy

Rancho El Zorrillo

Designed by architect Ramón Abascal, Rancho El Zorrillo, also known as La Soledad, is much more than a country residence. It is an architectural work with a strong symbolic, scenic, and technical character. Each axis, each path, and each view are designed to gradually reveal the architecture, as if it were a choreography built on the landscape.

Located on a hill surrounded by a hand-planted forest, this house offers a unique sensory and spatial experience, one that has been experienced, filmed, and admired by thousands.

Rancho El Zorrillo is not just inhabited, it is explored and experienced. It is seen as an architectural statement about time, scale, landscape, and memory. It is a testament to Ramón Abascal's talent and his vision of architecture as an art integrated into the soul of the land.

Characteristics

Key Architectural Elements

Composition by Crossed Axes:

The house is organized around two main axes—longitudinal and transversal—that visually and functionally organize all the spaces, connecting living rooms, bedrooms, patios, a cinema, a pool, a gazebo, and a tower.

Progressive scenic design:

The tour begins on a path hidden among the trees, gradually revealing the architecture like a play.

Expressive and honest materiality:

Red partition, carved quarry, solid wood, clay tiles, structural steel, and diverse floors that mark the rhythm of the space.

Unique Architectural Language:

Influences of Léon Krier, Barragán, and warm brutalism intertwine with classical geometry, high ceilings, glass vaults, and exposed materials.
